Data in a box: Exhibition opening at Plantreff Munich

The new exhibition Data in a box. Urban Development – Digital, Connected and Innovative at PlanTreff München explores the vast wealth of data the city has at its disposal. This ranges from 3D geodata, urban planning simulations and aerial imagery to economic data. It also includes analyses of population data, projections of urban development, and data on noise, air quality and mobility.

All of this data feeds into the city’s digital solutions, such as the Digital Twin Munich – a virtual replica of the city – or the new digital urban development plan. The aim of these digital solutions is to improve living conditions for everyone in Munich. The exhibition presents examples of how the collected data is being used and the potential it holds.

We’re happy to be part of the exhibition with Data Soil, our interactive installation built on Munich’s open smart city data. Mobility, infrastructure, environment, social dynamics: all of it flows through a field of moving particles that visitors can navigate, question and interpret for themselves.

Data Soil was originally developed together with Architekturmuseum der TUM and GeodatenService Landeshauptstadt München. After its premiere at City in the Cloud – Data on the Ground in the Pinakothek der Moderne, the exhibit now reaches a new audience right where urban planning happens.
