Audioversum Schreiraum

About

Redesigned as an interactive sound installation, Schreiraum lets visitors at AUDIOVERSUM experience how loudness affects human hearing. A sensitive microphone measures the volume of each scream and translates it into colorful visualizations and animations on a triptych LED screen. As the decibel level rises, visitors move through a series of animated animal forms evolving from a whispering cricket (20 dB) to a roaring lion or elephant (120 dB). As participants raise their voices, they “move” through these layered soundscapes, visually experiencing the threshold between comfort and pain. A vertical color scale complements the display, turning sound into a playful, intuitive exploration of volume and perception.
